    • Bennitt G. Vollmer, 82, 6576 Collamer Rd., East Syracuse died Sunday, July 11. Mr. Vollmer resided most of his life in Collamer.
      Mr. Vollmer was the founder and owner of Vollmer Farms and past president of the Onondaga County Vegetable Growers Assoc. and director of the New York State Vegetable Growers Assoc. He was also a member of the Onondaga County Farm Bureau, the Cooperative Extension Assoc. of Onondaga County and the Taft Settlement Grange.
      Mr. Vollmer was a member of the Syracuse Turners Inc. and an honorary member of the Simon Parise Post 9596 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A member of the town of DeWitt Zoning Board of Appeals, he was also a trustee of Collamer Methodist Church.
      Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Schmitt; three sons, Frederick and Harold Vollmer, both of Collamer, and Carl Vollmer of Central Square; two stepsons, William and Donald Sweeney, both of East Syracuse; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
      Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 14 at Delaney and Greabell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Collamer Cemetery.
      Contributions may be made to Collamer United Church or to EAVES.
