Dear Patrick-
Greetings from St. Louis, Missouri, USA!
I have been carefully studying your information on the Glarus Wild Family Tree, your research is amazing. I've come across two items that may be of interest to you, although I don't know if either John Wild or John Caspar Wild are connected to the Glarus family.
I am a member of St. Johns Evangelical United Church of Christ (Mehlville), located in St. Louis County, Missouri. http://stjucc.org/wordpress/ Our congregation is celebrating our 175th anniversary, a very few years by Swiss standards, but quite an accomplishment in St. Louis. I found this in the marriage registry: March 23, 1851 John Wild of Wiehl by St. Gallin, Switzerland and Miss Anna Backmann of Veraldorf by Zurich, Switzerland were married by Pastor Louis Nollau; witness were Michael Koehler and Henry Mueller. The marriage was also recorded with the City of St. Louis, in book 5, entry page 175. The church records are written in German until about 1900. In addition this entry is listed in the 1850 Federal Census, it is possible that it could be the same person: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MDZP-GZ8
The city of St. Louis was listed separately from St. Louis County. The area where the church is located was then known as Carondalet area of St. Louis County. The English-speaking Census taker for Carondalet in 1850 had a very difficult time recording the information for the German-speaking community and as a result it is difficult to decipher. It is quite possible that this John Wild is on that 1850 Census for St. Louis County. I will look through it page by page to see if I can find him.
