Last Rites To Be Held For Mrs. Jacob Blum, Aged 58
Funeral services for Mrs, Jacob Blum, 58 years old, highly esteemed local woman, who passed away at her home in this village shortly after 9 Tuesday evening, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o’clock in the home and at 2 in the Reformed church.
Rev. A. Muehlmeier, pastor of the church, will have charge of the services. Interment will be in Highland cemetery.
The death of Mrs. Blum was caused by an incurable malady which had its inception several years ago. It was not until the past few months, however, that her condition became serious, but from that time on, she failed gradually until the end.
Her demise occurred despite the fact that she was provided with every possible comfort and given the best of medical care. Last fall Mrs. Blum entered a sanitarium at Indianapolis, Ind., where she took treatments for a period of 10 weeks, Her stay at the sanitarium was of little avail, however, although it did alleviate her suffering.
Mrs. Blum’s maiden name was Rose Theiler. She was a native of Switzerland, having been born in Canton of Berne Feb. 14, 1870, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Theiler. She received her early education in her native land and then, at the age of 17 years, she came to America, first making her home in Washington township and Monroe.
Her marriage to Jacob Blum took place Oct. 12, 1898, in Washington township. The couple had always resided on a farm in that community until they came to Monticello to make their home.
Mrs. Blum was a kind and loving mother and she held the esteem of the entire community. Thru-out the long dreary days of her suffering, she never complained and always believed that she would get well.
She is survived by the husband, three daughters, Mrs. Jacob Hefty, New Glarus; Mrs. Jacob Heim, Monticello; and Mrs. John Zimmerman, Monticello; one brother, Fred Theiler, Humbird, Wis. The deceased’s mother, Mrs. Marie Theiler, aged past 90, two sisters and one brother, all living in Switzerland, also survive. Mr. Theiler died 14 years ago in Switzerland.
