  Alfred Ruegg of Pine Island was killed instantly when he was struck by a falling cement silo block at the home of his son, Baltz Ruegg. He was standing close to the structure when accidently a silo block fell from the top of the silo striking him in the back of the head. The accident was witnessed by his wife and several others. Mr. Ruegg was born in Switzerland and in 1903 he immigrated to America and settled in Roscoe, Goodhue County, Minnesota. He married Barbara and they had the following children; Baltz, Elizabeth, Russell A., and John W. On the 1930 census he is farming in New Haven Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota. Funeral services were held in Pine Island at the St. Pauls Lutheran church with burial in the Pine Island cemetery. Information of the accident was printed in the Pine Island Record newspaper.
