Lucinda Cushman July 28, 1902 – July 1931
DIES WHILE STILL UNDER INFLUENCE OF ANESTHETIC Mrs. Harley Cushman, 29, Former Local Girl, Succumbs
Striking with shocking unexpectedness, death claimed the life of Mrs. Harley Cushman, aged about 29, Lodi, formerly Miss Lucinda Kubly, of this village, who died at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning in St. Mary’s-Ringling hospital at Baraboo.
Mrs. Cushman had entered the hospital for a tonsil operation and her demise took place while she was still under the influence of the anesthetic which was administered before the surgery started. She had previously been bothered with heart trouble which is believed to have been the cause of her death.
Lucinda Kubly, who would have reached the age of 29 years on July 28th, was born in Monticello in 1902, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kubly. She attended the local schools and then remained at home until her marriage, in 1923, to Harley Cushman, Baraboo. They resided in that city for about four years and then moved to Lodi where they had since resided. Mr. Cushman is employed as lineman for the Wisconsin Power and Light company.
Mrs. Cushman was a young lady possessed of a pleasing personality, her cheerful disposition and other womanly qualities winning her the friendship of a large number of acquaintances.
Besides the widower and one daughter, Dorothy, aged 7, Mrs. Cushman is survived by the parents, two brothers, Isaac Kubly, Freeport, and Francis, at home; and two sisters, Misses Florence and Gladys, both at home
Funeral services will be conducted at 2. o’clock tomorrow (Friday) afternoon in the First Presbyterian church at Baraboo. Burial will be in the church cemetery in that city.
