First of all I wanted to thank you for the time you gave me and for the excellent research that allows me to shed some light, finally, on this branch of my ancestors. If I can reciprocate with something do not hesitate to ask.
If I understand Peter's comment clearly, he recommends, to look for Eggenschwiler family members in Matzendorf auswärtige records. He also recommends looking for records in "Kammersrohr (vermutlich in den Büchern von Flumenthal)." I checked Matzendorf, and found only one record for a Niklaus Stephan Eggenschwiler, the son of Niklaus von Matzendorf and Barbara Eggenschwiler von Edermannsdorf?, born in 1861. Note: I looked at the Matzendorf auswärtige birth records during the years 1855 thru 1875, and I noticed there are six years missing (1862 thru 1867). A record related to his parent's marriage happens to be located on the same page as the child's record. It seems that these records are both related to the place Günsberg (instead of Flumenthal as originally thought. I checked the records during the years 1855 thru 1871 in Flumenthal, and did not find a birth record for a Niklaus Stephan Eggenschwiler). See a copy of the record in Matzendorf (from FamilySearch) below:Matzendorf-Ehe&Tauf-1861-Eggenschwiler.jpgPeter.D hat geschrieben: Fr 12. Jul 2024, 16:57 Hallo Andy
The marriage record for "Stephan Niklaus und Annemarie," could possibly contain information such as Stephan Niklaus' age, "Heimatort", and father's name, which would confirm if he is the Niklaus Stephan Eggenschwiler born in 1861.
Now, coming to the data found, I should try to understand with the little data that I have available if we are on the right track. Certainly the places and times are these. Barring homonyms it should be the right Nik Steph born in 1861.
