My records indicate another child (Bertha Germann) was born to this union, however, I have no date.

Maria Rosa died in 1894, perhaps that is when Bertha was born?

I assume you are referring to the second marriage of Johann Joseph Germann with Maria Rosa Rütsche - so it could not be Maria Bertha (* 27 Feb 1878) from his first marriage ... correct?

To have a child missing in the "Bürgerregister" (the official State Register for all vital events) may not be impossible, but certainly would be highly unusual. What is the source of (and other information about) "your" Bertha?
