Zuberbühler im Kanton Appenzell AR

I've traced my lineage to Switzerland and believe that I've got family from the Appenzell Ausserrhoden region. My family says that I'm related to the following Zuberbühlers:
- Hans Zuberbühler (of Herisau) bought "Uffern Berg" from Ruedi Bruggmeister (of Herisau) on 26 November 1432.
- Heini Zuberbühler (of Herisau) was known as the "große Zuberbühler" of Herisau and was involved in the Roschacher Klosterbruch in 1489.
- Hans Zuberbühler ("Captain of Herisau in 1623", but I don't know what that means. I think it means Mayor or something like that.)
- Hans Conrad (1597-1652) was a "resident" in the former "Vogteigebäude Schwänberg"
- Hans Jakob (1606-) was a surgeon in Schwänberg
- Bartholome Zuberbühler (1644-1689) of Gais. He was the "Deacon of Herisau" from 1666-1682.
- Hans Conrad Zuberbühler (1647-1711) was one of the best known medical men of in his Canton.

I've found some references to these people, but I'm trying to link them to the Jacob Zuberbühler (born around 1847) that emigrated from Switzerland in April of 1866 and arrived in New York City in 1866.

Does anyone have any information on the Zuberbühlers of Appenzell Ausserrhoden that they could share?

Additionally, I'm having some trouble translating some things that I've found on Zuberbühlers. Specifically, I don't know how to translate the various positions that I've found linked to many different Zuberbühlers:

Dave sucht weitere Hinweise zu seinem nachgewiesenen Vorfahren Jacob Zuberbühler (* um 1847), der im April 1866 auswandert und in New York in die USA einreist. [Anm. aus direkter Korrespondenz: Als Vater wird ein um 1823 geborener Johann Zuberbühler vermutet, der ebenfalls in die USA auswandert.] Leider ist bei Beiden als Herkunftsland nur "Schweiz" angegeben. [Anm: Als Bürger seit vor 1800 sind Zuberbühler in Appenzell-Ausserrhoden wie -Innerrhoden im Familiennamenbuch genannt.]

In der Familie wird ein Zusammenhang mit mehreren im 15. bis 18. Jhdt. nachgewiesenen Zuberbühler überliefert (Details siehe oben): [Anm: Nach meiner Erfahrung sind solche Überlieferungen aber mit grosser Vorsicht zu behandeln.]

Weiter bittet Dave um Übersetzung bzw. Erklärungen zu den folgenden Bezeichnungen:

Gemeindehauptmann = mayor of a parish

Landesfähnrich = member of the cantonal government ("Standeskommission") and minister of justice and police

Landeshauptmann = member of the cantonal government and minister of agriculture

Landesstatthalter = member of the cantonal government

Landesseckelmeister = member of the cantonal government and minister of finance

Landammann = president of the cantonal government (there are always two of them: a "regierender Landammann" and a "stillstehender Landammann")

Thank you! That explains a lot!

I also see refernces to things like "Laudeshauptman" and "Quartierhauptman". I'm guessing that the differences are representative of what level of government is being represented (canton versus municipality and such), but don't know what the difference is between "landes", "laudes" and "quartier". I also saw "Landmajor" and "Landeszeugherr".

Oh, and does "Hauptmann von Waldstatt" mean the same as "Gemeindehauptmann" for Waldstatt?

I think "Landes..." and "Laudes..." is the same word, with an "u" instead of an "n" (a mistake of spelling). "Hauptmann von Waldstatt" surely means "Gemeindehauptmann" (= mayor) von Waldstatt".
