Brügger von Lostorf SO

Beitrag von bruegger1209 » Mo 14. Jul 2014, 12:40

Hello,
my first known ancestor is Hieronymus Brügger, at one time church administrator (catholic), b. abt. 1640 (?), he married Anna Biedermann in 1666 in Lostorf/SO. He died in Lostorf in 1691. I've been told the Brueggers originally came from Churwalden/GR. Do you know anything about the Brueggers' other places of settlement. Have any Brueggers left their home town in the years 1600-1640 (or even earlier) to move to other parts of Switzerland and Europe?

PS: Could it be that the name "Masseoli" should read Maspoli? Maspoli is an old family name in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland (Canton Ticino).

Brügger are recorded as citizens since before 1800 in quite a few communities in cantons BE, FR, GR, LU, SO, VS. I cannot exclude for sure that there is a "common ancestor", but consider it highly unlikley, at least for the times where sources are available to prove this connection.

In order not to make this thread confusing, only Brügger of Lostorf SO should be discussed here.
