Wellcome in the forum. It's easy to handle, just post your question. From my experience with the board, there are many people willing to help.

Which family name do you research? Do you have informations about your Swiss ancestor, such as birth dates, residence, or when he emigrated?

Good luck!

Schlaap in Trimmis

Beitrag von pepsiegeo » Di 14. Sep 2010, 05:21

The information I have about my Grandfather is that he was born in Trimmis in 1852; and came to the U. S. A. with his family (father, mother, and 4 sisters) in 1872. I have more information if needed.

Schlaap in Trimmis

Beitrag von hhg » Di 14. Sep 2010, 11:37

The Swiss Telephone book lists only two Schlapp entries in Graubünden, none for Schlaap. You might try to contact them and see if they are related.

Another possibility is to enquire at the civil register, google for
Zivilstandsamt Trimmis to get the adress. They will tell you how and where familysheets are available.

They charge fees. So it would be good to tell them what exactly you search for.

Hope you are lucky and get more infos from the forum that will help, for free.

Schlapp in Trimmis

Beitrag von pepsiegeo » Mo 27. Sep 2010, 22:38

Am looking for or wood like pics of the house or houses that the schlapp's lived in and or the church they went to or pics of their graves in a cemetery. and any information on any Schlapp family relative. I understand that there are some living that I will try to get in touch with. I'd like information about Johann Alois Schlapp (1793-?, and wife and family), Alois Schlapp (dob and dd, where they lived) and wife (dob and dd from Austria).

Schlapp von Says GR

The only suitable mention in the Register of Swiss Surnames is Schlapp - the family gained citizenship of Says during the 19th century. Both Trimmis and Says are in the Landquart district.

I recommend you contact the Civil Registry Office Landquart and ask if your ancestor can be identified on their register: these offices were set up in 1876 - and as he left a few years earlier, he may not have been registered.
