Beitrag von manu_badiola » Sa 30. Mai 2009, 07:44

Bonjour

English version:
Hello
I only have these information for one "lost" ancestor:
Jeanne TURSAN ( or maybe CURSAN ) daughter of Bertrand TURSAN, military musician of the Napoleon's army, and daughter of Therese ELLISSALDE ( or ELIZALDE ) was christened on November the 11th 1800 in Luzein . She was 3 years old."
Can someone help me to find somme informations about my ancestor? I live about 1300 km from your beautiful country.. It will be hard to me to go and search this document. I would be so glad if someone can look at this document and give me a transcription of it .

The Luzein church records are available on film from the Mormons (at ther Family History Centres only).

Alternatively you could try to enquire at the Grisons State Archives.

Alfred Götz tells me that there is no corresponding entry in the Luzein church records.

Now - the situation is that Luzein was a reformed church - whilst a member of Napoleon’s Army was likely catholic. Could it be that the Army priest conducted the baptism, possibly even in the reformed church - but this would not be recorded in the reformed baptism register?

Bonsoir,

Emmanuel

English Version.
Hello

I found new informations about my ancestor.I found a french translation of baptism certificate written in latin(?!!!)
Is it a normal language for such a certification in 1800 in the Grisons?
In this text, we found informations about the baptism:
done by Joseph Fidelix Cavigilli, local priest, at the "Antonius von Padua" church in Luzein, Core diocese, Grisons.
It is possible that ther are some mistakes in the Latin-French Translation.
So , is anyone can help me and say what he thinks about these informations?
Does it seems real?
What the use of write a baptism certificate in Latin language ? Is it normal in Luzein?
I'm sorry if you think that these are silly questions.. but i know nothing about the uses of your beautiful country in 1800! ;-)
Thanks a lot to anyone that can help me

Emmanuel

church records written in latin are quite normal around 1800 in catholic churches - but luzein is reformed. also Antonius von Padua is a catholic saint - unlikely the patron of the reformed church in luzein.

on the other hand - there is an Antonius von Padua church in luzern - which wouldn't be diocese chur, though.
