Bussien de Port-Valais VS

Post by Paul Burkhalter » Fri 27. Sep 2019, 15:08

Hallo,
I have this copy of the above from 1910 for a relative. I know what it says, but my question is:
What is the purpose of the document? Was it issued for a specific purpose, or did everyone get one.
I am a bit puzzled as I've never seen this mentioned before as a research item.

Paul

Hallo Paul

Thank you Peter.
The pencil note at the bottom would seem to show he was at Montoie (Lausanne?).

If he went and lived in Lausanne, would there be a surviving register in the VD archives of such arrivals and departures?
If someone could advise and possibly supply a link, I would be very grateful. My French is too poor to know what to look for!

Hallo Paul

Peter,
There is writing bottom left which may indicate this place, so a search might be worthwhile.
Unfortunately I have tried with the search term you provided but no results. I would be grateful if someone with French could try for me.

Paul, there's no online search for the registration documents. You have to use the 'Ecrivez-nous' on the right side and send them an e-mail in English. If they answer in French, just come back to this forum.

I will start by praising Ville de Lausanne Archiv who have been excellent in tracking down the information for me. I now know the dates of his arrival and departure (1910-1913), the address he lived, and where he went next (Weggis). Weggis are now finding what they can.

Next query is for one generation further back.
Joseph Emile BUSSIEN (1851-1912) of Le Bouveret is said to have worked on the railway at Bouveret. Please could someone advise if the staff records of the SBB and earlier railway companies (in this case the S-O-S) have survived and can they be accessed?
I have asked SBB Historic but they do not have the old staff records.
Incidentally, SBB Historic archiv have a photo dated 1885 of the staff at Bouveret. If it is true that he worked there, I’d like to believe my great-grandfather is one of those pictured! (SBB H don’t have their names).

Weggis Archiv has been very helpful, but say there is no record of him registering there in the timeframe. So the trail goes cold!

I asked the federal archives if they had these records, but they do not.
I suppose I could ask SBB.
Anyone here have any ideas?

Hallo Paul

After a reminder, they replied that this book does not have the info I seek.
It seems there are no old railway staff records in archives, local or national.
I wonder if SBB still have something? However I wouldn’t know where to start asking!

Hallo Paul

In deinem Fall wäre die Kreisdirektion I zuständig gewesen.

Once again I am grateful Peter
I have sent an enquiry to SBB, via the press office which seems to be the only email address on the corporate website.
We will see what they say.

Well, a very rapid reply from the Press Office to say if I have already asked SBB Historic then they cannot help.

I will have to admit defeat on this one!

Thank you to all readers, but especially Peter D.
