Hello, my name is Daniëlle. I live in Haarlem, the Netherlands. I’m trying to find out more about my ancestors. My ancestor Heinrich Buser was born in Tenniken on 07-10-1788, son of Martin Buser (baptised 1746) and Elisabeth Friker (born 1750?), and moved to Groningen in the Netherland around 1800. I know Martin was a weaver, but the rest is a mystery. Can anyone tell me where I can find dates of emigration? Or what happened to Martin and Elisabeth. They were dead when Heinrich married in 1814... Thanks for your help!

According to the Swiss Surname Register (1940 edition) Buser have been citizens of Tenniken since before 1800 - but the line has become extinct in the meantime.

Several Buser lines from Basel-Landschaft have been researched by Billeter - some of them as far back as 1538.

Thanks, I will order copies from the Billeter list! Last year I visited Tenniken, lovely town. Too bad the church was closed... Although I'm not sure if my ancestors were members of that community. Heinrich, the one that moved to Holland was not a weaver himself, his father was. Heinrich worked as a carpenter at a shipyard in Groningen, but since the witnesses at his wedding were soldiers with German or Swiss names, there is a possibity that he originally went to Holland as a hired soldier...
