Hi,
I'm looking for someone who can hopefully help me find some more information on one of my ancestors; Marie Muller.
Having recently learned my great grandfather was adopted, I have delved into researching my family history, I have found his birth certificate which has a mothers name listed but I can not find any further information on her family or parents. Her death certificate has two maiden names of her mother but I have been unable to dig up any Marriage certificate or record of her parents. Any help in understanding the family names of her mother would be appreciated.

if the scan you sent is from some online-source, please post the link. It would allow to get acquainted to the handwriting and cluster and make it easier to consider what the extras might say. Also helpful to include more family infos, such as where they lived (?Glasgow, Scotland?), or anything about Marie Muller's ways while alive.
As far as I understand, target person is the deceased's name-sake mother Marie, wife of late toymaker Charles Muller. As far as I can see, no maiden name given for her, afterward Sigrist seems to rather indicate a second husband?
Her daughter Marie died 1957, aged 81y, thus born about 1876. Any chance to find a birth record for her, and browse for eventual siblings? Best case, one of them might include mother's maiden name, or point at a time-frame/locations to dig for the wanted marriage record.
Good luck!

I agree with hhg: Muller (Müller) might(!) be her maiden name, but more likely it was her first married name, getting married a second time (Sigrist). The daughter's maiden name would have been Müller - not Porteous - looks like the registrar only noted married names.
What indication do you have for a Swiss origin?

Thanks for the Replies!
Starting at the top,
HERE is a link to all the documents I have found so far on the ScotlandsPeople website.
The first record of Marie Muller in Scotland is the 1891 Census, this record lists her place of birth as Switzerland, as does the 1901 Census.
Through searching records for the Witness address on Marie's Death Registration I managed to find her Nephew and Sister, Bertha Louise Loudon (born Muller). I have attempted to find birth records etc., for Bertha without any luck.
I was under the impression that the line above the (Deceased) line may be her maiden name, my best guess is de Coraway, or am I going in the wrong direction here?
As can be seen on James Orrs birth registration he was listed as "Illegitimate", so the chances of find a father for James are very scarce, at this stage I'll be happy to just find more information for his mothers side and I will try and get more information through DNA for the father.
I haven't had much luck searching swiss birth records due to language barriers, thus I am hoping posting here might open more doors.

my summary of your DropBox records:
Marie, born ab. 1872 in Switzerland, has sister Bertha Louise (b. ab. 1884, d/o ?Charles? and Marie Müller, previously Sigrist).
Since no hints for any location in Switzerland, I gave it a try using names and found
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:68V5-Z8RP:
Marie Müller, bapt. 12 May 1872 Burgdorf, Bern, Schweiz, born 2 Mar 1872, d/o Carl Müller & Marie Elisabeth Reiner.
Screenshot (below) from K14 Burgdorf Ausburger 1866-1875
More likely this was the right Marie if mother's maiden name was Sigrist, not Reiner. Or the churchbooks would continue to look up whether same parents had a daughter Bertha Louise, but they end 1875. The only way to find out would be to apply for a family sheet at Burgdorf civil registers. Else, one could browse Burgdorf marriages, to see whether Marie Reiner might have been previously married Sigrist?
Else, one could try to spin FamilySearch or Ancestry for any Karl/Charles Müller, Marie Müller/Sigrist, or alike. I gave up ...

Hi
It doesnt say "previously Sigrist" it says "afterwards Sigrist", so Sigrist was not her maiden namen, she was later married to a man named Sigrist.
I'm not sure what is written in the line above the "deceased", maybe "M.S. de Broway" or "M. S. de Croway".
I'm not sure if this is her maiden surname or another married surname.
The entries of other people mention their profession at this position.
