Hello,
Genealogist working on WINIGER family in the USA.
I have 3 branches of Winiger in the USA ... ALL immigrated from various parts of Switzerland..
Winiger in Kriens, Lucerne ... (these folks appear to have landed ultimately in St. Louis Missouri).
Winiger in Bern ... (these folks landed in Colorado).
Winiger from Jona SG (I have received some initial help here on this branch).
I am trying to see if they are related to each other in Switzerland.
Thanks,
David Winiger

Winiger are fairly widespread in canton Luzern: 8 places of citizenship since before 1800 - Kriens is not amongst them. Have you got any data on "your" Winiger in Kriens which could possibly help to find their place of citizenship?
Familiennamenbuch doesn't mention Winiger in Bern. Could you, please, publish the information you have collected on this line in a separate topic.
Here only Winiger in Kriens should be discussed.

So we got a passenger list from 1912 with two brothers, Joseph (age 19, i.e. born about 1893) and Robert (age 17, i.e. born about 1895). Their place of birth is given as Luzern - question: actually the city or just the canton? Their father is Joseph Winiger, and the family lived in Kriens LU; there is another place name on the next line: Petersheim(?) ... but I cannot read it with certainty due to low resolution..
Kriens baptismal records are online - unfortunately only prior to 1892. Marriage records are online until 1896 - so you could check if a Joseph married there prior to about 1893: this could be a starting point for further research.
To view birth registers before 1921 there is no special permission required - but you will have to visit the State Archive,
You'll find numerous Winiger on
https://www.portraitarchiv.ch/ - not surprisingly, as Winiger are widespread in Kanton Luzern.
