Meyer im Kanton Luzern

Sorry, but I do not speak German.
My great grandfather was Casper Meyer, a taylor in Luzern in the mid 1800s. His daughter, my grandmother, Marie Meyer, was born in about 1859 in Luzern. She had a son John (probably out of wedlock) and emigrated to England in the late 1880s. Can anyone please help me identify her parents and other ancestors.
Colin.

Hi Colin and welcome to the board.

Almost all archives of the canton of Lucerne can now be viewed online, as you can see here:

Thank you Nico, but it is not clear to me how, on that website, I can actually view the record of an individual. Do I have to put it in my shopping cart and purchase it? Or can I actually view it online?
Colin.

Hi

If he was born in Lucerne city, you should look at "Luzern St. Leodegar im Hof".
Taufbuch = Baptisms
Ehebuch = Marriages
Sterbebuch = Deaths
There are also registers with the surnames of each book.

This church books are only online until the year 1875, so nothing of the 1880ies can be found there.
If you click on a book a new site opens and there is a link to familysearch, thats the link to the book.
But you can only look at the books if you are registered at familysearch (which is without costs).

Regards

Svenja
