Beitrag von Wolf » So 11. Mai 2014, 19:22

Patrick schreibt unter http://www.wildglarus.tribalpages.com/:
The Wild family from the Canton of Glarus originates from Toggenburg in the Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. The family name derives from the former residence of the ancestor: Wildhaus in Toggenburg.

The ancestor Claus Wilhelm married around 1539 Anna Zwingli, the niece of the Swiss reformer Huldrych Zwingli. Claus Wilhelm, subsequently called Wild , emigrated around 1544 from Toggenburg into Glarus and settled down in the hamlet Loew (Nesselau) in Haslen. He received 1555 after presenting the redemption letter from serfdom for himself and his five sons, Hanns Heinrich, Claus, Peter and Bartholomäus for 340 guilders the citizenship of the commune of Haslen and the Canton of Glarus.

Family branch from Schwanden

1586 most of the now 7 sons of Claus Wilhelm Wild were still living in Haslen, some were living in the commune of Schwanden, where Bartholomäus and his son Hilarius and the youngest son of Claus Wilhelm, David, became naturalized and founded the local family branch of Schwanden. Most of the American Wild’s are descended from this branch.

Family branch from Matt

The offspring of David Wild, the youngest son of Claus Wild and Anna Zwingli, received at the beginning of the 17th century the citizenship of the commune of Matt. 1686, 1710 and 1837 families from the Matter branch immigrated back to Schwanden. This family branch is with the exception of American branches 1908 extinct.

Family branch from Mitlödi

Marx Wild (born 1567 in Haslen) , a son of Claus Wild (born 1544 in Haslen) and a grandson of the homonymous ancestor, bought 1613 the citizenship of the commune Mitlödi and founded the local family branch of Mitlödi from which the family of the author descended.

At the end of the 19th century Wild from Schwanden naturalised in Basel, 1931 in Glarus and 1946 in Zurich. Wild from Mitlödi naturalized 1943 in Zurich.
Hier sollten NUR die Wild aus dem Kanton Glarus diskutiert werden, deren Bürgerort (noch) nicht bekannt ist. Für Linien mit bekanntem Bürgerort existieren eigene Themen:

Hi Terri,

have you checked Patrick's database yet? There is a Barbara Schindler (1809-1881) m1 Hefti, m2 Wild.

If this is the person you are looking for, this topic should be renamed Schindler von Rüti GL - with a link to Wild von Schwanden GL.
