Hallo Atti,

This is likely the marriage of Pieter's parents: Laurens de Bilde and Elisabeth Clement. As you can see Laurens was born in Beveren. My hypothesis is that this could be the village of Beveren in East Flanders in what is nowadays Belgium, not so far away from Zeeuws-Flanders in the Netherlands. The village of Mariekerke now forms part of the town of Veere. So, maybe you now have to change to Belgian archives!! Try it in Beveren! Success!

and thanks again for your help!! I did find all the info about Pieter de Bilde both of his marriages but I was not able to extrapolate when he was born and who possibly his parents were?! Anyhow this info shall give me a little more to study - may I ask how you made this assumption??

Hallo Atti,

Look at all the information about the De Bilde-family at www.zeeuwengezocht.nl. Then you will observe that there is only one generation before your Pieter. That's why I assume (on the doubtful basis of my 44 years experience in genealogy) that Laurens and his wife are most likely the parents of Pieter. Also because of the family name, which is more a (Belgian) Flemish one, than a family name, which originates from (Flemish) Dutch territory. A question of feeling.These however are up to now mere assumptions, which you need to prove. It could be interesting to put, on this forum (Belgien) and maybe on another, Belgian forum, a question whether somebody has searched De Bilde-lines (specially from East Flanders, Beveren).
